Travel pillows are all the rage but it seems like it’s hard to find a definitive guide to how to get the most out of them. Most of the time you see people using every travel pillow the same way. You slide it behind your neck, lay back and try to forget that you’re traveling. Sounds familiar? Well, you’ll probably be surprised to learn that this is not the optimal way to get the most out of your travel pillow. Not convinced that you need a travel pillow? Check out this link. Keep reading and figure out how to get the most out of your pillow and get the best sleep while you travel.
1. Turn It Backwards
Yup, this is a basic tip but it makes a world of difference on flights or long bus rides. If you’re anything like us, then you probably slowly fall to sleep and begin nodding only to wake up because you feel like you’re falling out of your seat. If you wear your neck pillow backward it supports your chin and keeps you stable so that as you fall asleep you don’t nod and suddenly wake up. This one is super simple but incredibly helpful.
2. Train Your Pillow
This one may sound a bit weird until you remember that the Naipo travel pillow is made of memory foam. One way to take advantage of this is to use your pillow before you go on your flight. One of my favorite ways to do this is to use it while reading on my couch. I like to lay out on my couch and I find that sometimes my neck gets a bit uncomfortable but if I use the pillow I find that it allows my head to rest while reading and means I can read or rest faster. The reason you want to use this before you fly is so that your pillow is used to how your head likes to leave before you ever take flight. That way once you fly your pillow is ready for exactly the way you sit and rest.
3. Pick A Lane Seat On The Plane
This is a bit counter-intuitive but if you’re sitting near the aisles then you’re going to be constantly interrupted as the passengers near you pass you to go to the bathroom. This will ruin your sleep and your travel pillow more than anything. This is why we suggest that you sit in the middle of the plane if possible. If you can’t sit in the middle of the plain you should choose a window seat so as to avoid being interrupted as you sleep. This is probably one of the most important things. Can you think of a person who enjoys being woken up? Didn’t think so. Try to set up your flights so that you don’t get woken up unnecessarily.
