Is it hard to wake up on a Monday? What if you struggle to wake up every day? You might think you’re not a morning person but what if you could be? How would you feel if you didn’t need 3 cups of coffee to start your day? Follow along for our ultimate guide on how to energize your mornings so you can kick ass.
Go To Bed Earlier
If you find yourself waking up only to go back to sleep, you’re clearly not getting enough hours of rest. For those dreaded early mornings when you can’t sleep in until noon, you’ll need to find a way to get extra hours of sleep. Instead of staying up late browsing Facebook or watching TV, turn them off and hop into bed earlier. It might be hard to fall asleep at first but if you turn it into a habit by regularly going to bed earlier, you’ll get those extra hours of sleep so you won’t ever need to hit the snooze button on your alarm clock ever again.
Wake Up Naturally
If you really want to your mornings to rock then you’ll need to do one thing: Ditch your alarm clock. Let me say that again, you will need to DITCH THE ALARM. Never again will you hit snooze. Our body’s circadian rhythms control our sleep cycle and help us to wake up naturally when our sleep is lightest. This allows you to feel refreshed and rejuvenated. However, an alarm disturbs this natural process. To start waking up naturally, get in the habit of waking up at the exact same time each day, including weekends! Of course you’ll need an alarm initially, but soon afterwards you can bin your alarm clock as your body habituates to this wake up time allowing you to rise unassisted.
Morning Meditation
To really fire up a foggy morning brain, you’re going to need to turn off your brain. That means you’re going to have to meditate. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a Tibetan monk to enjoy the benefits of meditation because it’s easy to do but hard to do right. It takes time and patience. To get started, simply get comfortable, sit in a quiet environment, empty your mind, and concentrate on your breath. Thoughts will enter your mind but look at them and let them pass. If you find your mind is drifting, start again. With practice you will be able to meditate for longer and longer. It’s really the best way to calm your mind and relieve stress – ideal for those days where work will be demanding. If you fall in love with meditation, you can even pair it with massage.
Drink Lemon Water
It might seem like advice you would hear from Mom, but lemon water in the morning really helps you to energize. Not only does it help digestion – ideal if you ate late the night before – but it also helps improve your skin tone and boosts your immune system. Making it is really easy, simply juice half a lemon and mix it with a glass of water. We guarantee it tastes delicious.
Eat Breakfast
There is a reason why it’s called the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast every morning ensures you don’t only have a kick ass morning, but also have a kick ass day. Having breakfast each morning will keep you feel full so you’re not starving by lunch time, it will boost your metabolism, and it will provide energy to power through the morning crunch of emails, meetings, and whatever else. But it’s not just the benefits that make eating breakfast important. Evidence suggests that skipping breakfast is linked to an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and memory issues. So make sure you have breakfast each morning – even if it’s only some fruit or muesli.
If you find mornings akin to a herculean struggle, follow our tips and make your mornings magic. Not only will you find you have energy, but you’ll kick some serious ass and meet the challenges of the day head on. Go you!
